Simple and controlled method for collecting bathymetric data from boats, USVs and riverbank setups
We offer open-source APIs for our devices, empowering developers by simplifying integration, accelerating development, improving functionality, and enhancing compatibility. This strategic move not only boosts developer satisfaction and productivity but also strengthens our market position and drives innovation.
Echologger APIsPole-mounted echosounders provide a simple and controlled method for collecting bathymetric data from boats, USVs and riverbank setups. The SSP-series uses a standard 5/8” survey-pole mount, enabling quick and precise sensor positioning.
Pole-mounted deployment is ideal for shallow-water hydrography, river cross-sections, ecological monitoring and portable survey kits. The SSP-series employs the same acoustic cores as our standard ECT/EU shallow and low-frequency echosounders:

Mounting Type
All SSP models use a standard 5/8” survey-pole thread for direct installation on poles, frames or USV masts (Electrical connectors follow the ECT or EU model’s standard specification).
Features
- Standard 5/8” pole-mount interface
- Rigid, stable transducer positioning
- Suitable for boats, USVs and riverbank stations
- Single- and dual-frequency variants
- Durable waterproof housings
- Acoustic performance identical to standard survey grade ECT/EU products
Specifications are available on each model’s dedicated product page:
What are Pole-Mounted Echosounders designed for?
The SSP series is designed for portable and controlled bathymetric deployment using standard survey poles.
Typical applications include:
- shallow-water bathymetric survey
- river cross-section measurement
- portable survey kits
- USV / ASV integration
- fixed riverbank or frame installations
Pole-mounted deployment provides a simple and precise method of positioning the transducer in the water.
What is the advantage of pole mounting?
Pole mounting offers several operational benefits:
- precise transducer positioning below the hull/water surface
- easy deployment and retrieval
- ideal for temporary or portable setups
- compatible with standard hydrographic survey poles
- suitable for boats, USVs, and riverbank frames
What mounting interface is used?
All SSP models use a standard:
- 5/8" survey-pole thread
This allows direct attachment to most professional hydrographic poles and mounting systems.
Which acoustic models are available?
Pole-mounted models are available across the Echologger shallow and low-frequency ranges:
Single Frequency
- ECT 200SSP → 200 kHz
- ECT 400SSP → 450 kHz
Dual Frequency (Shallow)
- ECT D24SSP → 200 / 450 kHz
- ECT D710SSP → 750 kHz / 1 MHz
Dual Frequency (Low Frequency)
- ECT D052SSP → 50 / 200 kHz
- ECT D032SSP → 30 / 200 kHz
USB-interface versions are also available as EUxxx SSP models.
Does pole mounting affect acoustic performance?
No. The SSP series uses the same acoustic cores as the corresponding standard ECT/EU models.
This means pole-mounted versions provide:
- identical acoustic performance
- identical beam characteristics
- identical output/data formats
with only the mounting form factor changed.
Are USB versions available?
Yes. USB plug-and-play versions are available across the SSP range as:
- EUxxx SSP
These are ideal for direct connection to:
- laptops
- tablets
- embedded PCs / Raspberry Pi systems
Is the SSP series compatible with hydrographic software?
Yes. Pole-mounted echosounders support the same outputs as their base ECT/EU models and are compatible with major hydrographic software platforms including:
- BeamWorX
- HydroMagic
- HYPACK
- QPS Qinsy
- EIVA NaviSuite
- Trimble HydroPro / Trimble Access
- Chesapeake SonarWiz
